About Me

The adult child of a (recovering) alcoholic - adoptee,  a foster care alumni, who grew up in suburban Detroit. After the extremely contentious divorce of her parents she was made a ward of the state of Michigan. She lived a series of placements, foster care and was rarely in the care of her natural parents during that time. She was granted “independent living” status as a 17 year old high school senior. She did a brief stint in the US Air Force and made the Cass Corridor and various neighborhoods in Detroit, Gordo Alabama, San Antonio and Austin Texas her home before settling down to an ordinary life of matrimony and motherhood.

I'm the founder of COPE24....Changing Our Parenting Experience a 501(C)3 child advocacy organization. We are promoting the need for parenting and child development education to all students in our high school systems. We work directly with Family Consumer Science (FACS) teachers across the country. They offer elective courses like parenting and child development. These courses need to be reaching all students if we want the health of our families to improve. We create reality-based documentary videos that supplement text book education in these classes. You can view clips of all of our videos at our website www.cope24.com.

Our child welfare system mandates parenting classes after a child has been harmed. We say this idea should become proacive and that we should be educating all youth before they become parents.
